Hey, what's anti-aliasing?
Hey guys I just got a new graphics card today, 256 mb, but only a PCI because my motherboard is old. Anyway, my question is now I'm getting more options for the display in GW and I want to optomize it. I'm getting anti-aliasing upto 4x (2x and 4x) and if I put it on either option 2x or 4x it gets blurry and blurrier, respectively. So my quesion is how do I optomize my GW experience :-). I've put it on highest quality but don't understand the "Advanced" tab of the graphics? So any help appreciated, thanks a lot to everyone for their help on my prior question and to this one. hf, gl,

Don't even think about using anti-aliasing (AA) on a PCI-based video card.
AA is a way fro avideo card to remove jagged edges (jaggies) from lines that do not run vertical or horizontal. It adds extra elements to diagonal lines so the lines are cleaner.

look at the edges....
Anti aliasing makes Edges of things that are at an angle, look less 'jagged' they make jagged lines, smoother.. and as a result, better looking..
Im kinda dissapointed GW only supports 4x AA tho :\ - my card goes up to 16x

Oh Heck No! There is a difference! I personally am happy enough with 2xAA. When you see it in game then you really notice the difference.
There is still "Jaggies"...but the are smaller ones. The higher you set you AA the smaller they become. It tricks the eyes into thinking there are totally smooth lines.
